Short link basics
How short links work, case sensitivity, and common limitations.
T.LY short links make sharing easier and can add analytics, editing, and routing options. Here are the basics to know before you publish links widely.
Are short links case sensitive?
Yes. Uppercase and lowercase characters are treated as different. If your slug is AbC, then abc is a different link.
How does redirection work?
A short link is a simple link that sends visitors to a destination URL. You share the short version, and visitors are taken to the full destination.
How can I expand a short link before clicking?
Use the Link Expander to reveal the destination before you visit it. If you want extra safety checks, use the Link Checker.
How long will my T.LY URL be available?
By default, T.LY links do not have an automatic expiration date. If you need a link to stop working after a certain date or number of clicks, you can set an expiration rule in Link Management.
If a link is associated with a T.LY account, a valid subscription is required to keep that link active.
Links may be limited or disabled if they violate policies. If you believe a link was disabled incorrectly, contact support or review options in the Trust & Safety Center.
Does Google still have a URL shortener?
